B-17F 42-5791 'Ruthless'

This field on the edge of Cwm Mt not far from the crash site of Halifax G-AIHU is where on the 28/12/43 B-17F 'Ruthless' of the 95th BG. 334TH Sqn crashed with the sad loss of all 18 on board =

Gnat collision XP536 and XR983 30th April 1976

On the 30th April 1976 2 Folland Gnat T.1 trainers flying from 4F.T.S R.A.F.Valley collided over the village of Brithdir ! XP536 and XR983 fell at about the centre of this picture [ref from Valley M.R.T report] with the loss of the 2 crews=

The two Gnats were taking part in a larger formation marking the retirement of a squadron commander at Valley. One of the crews reported a Phantom aircraft close by and as one of the pilots was intent on spotting this aircraft his plane struck the underside of the other gnat .
Flt. Lt. David James Mather was considered an expert in low level navigation and a trophy donated by his widow is awarded in his honour to students who attain the high standards

Mustang P-51 44-72340

This view of a collection of wreckage from P-51 44-72340 which crashed on Aran Fawddwy on the 17th May 1945 with the loss of Cpt Richard.L.Tannehill after 2 visits one with Sean and Mick [peak wreck hunters ] covering 3 ref points including both stream beds nothing was found but a revisit from Sean and Mick with better info found this collection of parts including fire retardant material from I believe the fire wall area .

Avenger FN821 revisit

On my last trip to this site i came within 40ft but never actually found the site only one small part but on this trip with Sean and Mick of http://peakwreckhunters.blogspot.com they came armed with better info and luckily meeting a nice local the site was found but sadly has not been left alone by being lost in the woods nice of them not to remove their discarded work gloves!!!
The plane coded FN821/4K crashed on Trum-Y-Fawnog on the 03/02/44 with the loss of the 4 crew!.

Also one passenger as yet identity unknown!.
The plane hit the ground at high speed and was totally wrecked so the crater will still contain remains and relics of the crew so as far as i am concerned this site is a grave and should not be being dug by anyone!.

Barracuda MD963 Redbrook Clough

Barracuda MD963 crashed on the 29/07/45 in Redbrook Clough, with the loss of the pilot Sub-Lt G.H.Ambler .
The site overlooks the A62 and is a short walk from the road by the pub ,there is more here than i was expecting the collection at the cross is all the larger parts but many small bits lie around the path !.

Mustang P-51D 44-72181

Red paint still on the remains of P-51D 'Sunny VIII' which crashed on Castleshaw moor by Delph on the 29/05/45 with the loss of the pilot 1st Lt H.H.Fredericks .
Part of the undercarriage mount !
There is a small depression by the remains but no small remains are on the surface and there is no burn marking on the ground !
