On the 28th of August 1972 not far from Halfpenny green airfield ,
Wolverhampton Prince William of Gloucester and co-pilot Vyrell Mitchell
lost their lives during the Goodyear International Air Trophy race the plane a PA-28 Piper Cherokee veered to port just after take off and clipping tress came down on to this bank
and exploded on impact .
During A Christmas visit home I found the site by matching to photos taken at the time , the site has no other marks then the Holly growth
it was said a stone was in the hedgerow as a memorial but I found nothing.
This crash is one I have personnel memories of as a 4 year old I was sat on the bonnet of
my family car by the flight line this day .

A very lucky find today day part of P-51k 44-11577 Cymran beach
Hi all been a while as not been out to many wrecks but will update found a few very interesting parts but this one is truly lucky out yesterday with the better half and dogs by RAF Valley and found an aircraft part uncovered by the shifting sands
After a bit of research I thought it may have been from Halifax JB916 which ditched about a mile away but it was actually part of a engine bearer from Mustang P-51K 44-11577 'Ginny III' 356th fighter group , 360th fighter squadron Martlesham Heath which crashed just off the coast on the 20th June 1945 during a thunderstorm with the sad loss of the pilot Lt Richard J.Rensch who had been visiting his brother whose B-17 was at Valley .
Rench an excellent pilot had 5 aircraft destroyed to his credit and was awarded the D.F.C he was interned at the American Cemetery Madingley , Cambridge
R Rensch Stood on right
Ginny III with it's main pilot Captain Donald Carlson.
Update this part has now a new home at it's home base of Martlesham heath in the Martlesham heath aviation museum

Wellington HF519 , Llanrwst
On the night of 15/05/44 Wellington HF519 took off from R.A.F. Waterbeach for a G.E.E exercise over Wales but when the aircraft having difficulty getting a fix the plane broke cloud at 2.000ft over the Elwy valley the pilot tried to avoid the nearby hills but sadly the Wellington stalled into the valley and cashed in the centre of the picture , the crew of 6 were all lost in this crash
After a quick look around the hedgerow all I turned up was this buckle ,there is probably more here but the plant growth is very thick and spiky so I left further investigations for another day .
Crew lost were
Pilot A.A.Tilton R.C.A.F
Navigator R.W.Bartlett R.C.A.F
Air bomber D.D.Bidwell R.C.A.F
Air gunner W.N.Ingleton R.C.A.F
Air gunner E.W.Hare R.C.A.F
W/op Sgt D.Sutcliffe R.A.F
Update the Buckle has been identified as coming from a 18th century shoe not aircraft but still nice to find

Marl Farm Anson , N5130 memorial Llandudno
This is the memorial in the grounds of Llandudno Junction Community Centre is the only reminder of the crash of Anson N5130 which broke up and crashed nearby on the 15/02/1944 with the loss of the whole crew of 5
The crash site is on the other side of the A470 in the area in the centre of the picture but due to the works that have taken place over the years and the proliferation of litter in the wood beyond it's is very doubtful that if anything remains it will ever be uncovered .

Avro Anson LT184 , Mynydd Perfedd
On the rocky slopes of Mynydd Perfedd the scattered remain of 2 Anson's exist and doubt has existed to which site is which well last Friday I climbed up the trail of wreckage, the first piece of which I found in the stream bed about 200 ft above Maes-Caradoc farm and followed the wreckage spread up one of the streams right up to the cliff face where these bits were the highest I found right next to a area of burnt battery, instrument ,electrics remains in the scree amongst which I found this Irish coin dated 1942!
LT184 was on a flight from Bishops Court, Northern Ireland and should confirm this site to be LT184 as the other Anson was LT116 on a local out of Llandwrog
LT184 crashed on the 5th, October , 1943
Crew = Leading Aircraft man J. T .Key
Leading Aircraft man J .Chrystal
Sgt E .J. Keightley
Sgt J.G. Shepherd [Pilot]
