8th of September 1944 Wellington BK552 flying from 29 OTU, RAF Bruntingthorpe

A run out to visit a few sites in Shropshire.
On the 8th of September 1944 Wellington BK552 flying from 29 OTU, RAF Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire with a crew of 7 onboard, for a cross country exercise over Wales and the North.
At about 1pm the pilot called for a fix and all seemed ok but the weather was growing cold and icing was a threat but the plane pressed on through the clouds.
Arriving near Oswestry the plane was in trouble one engine had failed in the severe conditions, going out of control BK552 fell out of the sky, diving into a field next to the Maesbury Road, Oswestry sadly all 7 crew were lost.

Stopping by the field gate I could only see a lovely view and grazing cows, nothing could be seen of this terrible loss.
